Need For Speed!

Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 2:29 am

speedomaterYou might have felt that this blog was kind of slow to load lately. This is because through constant ameliorations, I had sort of bastardised the beast.

This evening, with the help of Mathieu, my Web host and beer buddy, we fixed a couple of things. It should help a great deal with pages loading speed issues.

On top of that, I installed a WordPress plug-in that puts pages in cache (thanks for the idea J-L!), thus freeing some CPU time from the server.

At first glance, everything seems to be working fine, but should you experience any problem, please tell me!

Va Vroom!

Thanks For The Flugelhorn!

Friday, November 23, 2007 at 3:09 am

brem flugelhornI’ve been asked from time to time whether I made a lot of money with the ads on my blog.

A lot? No. Some? Of course.

It’s certainly not as efficient as Tchendoh’s method when he collected money for his MacBook, nevertheless, in 2 years of accumulating modest payments in my PayPal account, I succeeded in obtaining what I was having my eyes on.

As I explained in another article, I started playing trumpet again in a band and this has sparked a new interest in playing the instrument. Since the end of high school, when I heard my teacher playing it, I was dreaming of getting myself a flugelhorn, with a soft, round and dark sound.

With the American dollar being so low and the Canadian dollar consequently higher, I made a good deal on eBay. A Yamaha YFH 731 silver plated professional model.

So here we are, I received it, i tried it, I’m pleased!

Thanks to all of you who endured the my ads experiments as a mean of revenue. Just realize it wasn’t in vain. And most of all, a musical instrument like this doesn’t lose its value much, unlike a MacBook, so it’s a good investment. :)

Click on the picture to see the beast on my lips. Also note the sparse facial hair!

As soon as I get enough guts and time to record something, I’ll let you hear.
