Who are you?
My name is Martin Breton. My close friends call me brem.

Why BREM?
It’s a nickname my friends gave me. The exact origin of the nickname is obscure, but suffice to say that BRE are the 3 first letters of my family name (Breton) and M the first letter of my first name (Martin). BREM are also the 4 first letters of my health insurance number.

How young are you?
I was born August 7 1974.

Some comments are in french, some are in english and yet some are in both languages. WTF?
No need for expletives. I’m french speaking, my wife is english speaking. I have friends who speak french, others who speak english, others are bilingual. This blog reflects how my social life is: sometimes french, other times english, …

Where do you live?
I live in St-Rédempteur, in the newly merged city of Lévis, on the south shore of the St. Lawrence river, near Quebec City, QC, Canada.

What do you do, in real life?
I have studied 3 years at Université Laval to become a computer science professional, then I have worked 5 years in the field of computer vision, more precisely I worked on a software to acquire 3D data from a 3D scanner. Following those 5 years, I went back to Université Laval to gain my Masters degree in Electrical Engineering in the field of Computer Vision. Here is my page at the lab.

I currently work for a company that builds multimedia interactive LCD screens. I do PHP, CSS, MySQL.

I’m married since August 2004 to Carrianne Bell, a Vancouver born and raised girl who adopted Québec since a few years. We have bought a house on the south shore of Quebec City, and want to have kids in the near future.

I also have two bunnies, Mia and Frimousse. They are adorable. I also had two other bunnies, Marvin and Bowser, but they unfortunatly both passed away, a few weeks from each other.

I also have a Shih Tzu dog named Yoshi.

I heard you play in a band?
Yup. I started playing trumpet in high school, some 20 years ago. I played in many bands, mostly Soul and R&B. I recently joined my former sax player in a ska band. Stay tuned for more details!

Why such a dark picture of you?
To keep the mystery, to show off, to seduce (ha ha!), for fun, fo no reason.

What’s this website for?
I have had a website since I have had access to internet, and it goes back to 1993, the year I started university. Almost immediatly, I made myself a rudimentary website, mostly links towards cool sites. All in html. Graphic HTML editors didn’t exist back then. Mosaic was just out of the oven, the World Wide Web was young. As the semesters came and went, my pages evolved. I have always had a presence on the web, but what was missing is an efficient way to update my pages. Indeed, a non up to date website is a dying website. Came PHP and the boom of blogs, it’s now possible for me to update this site in a few clicks. Thus, this way of doing things is much more dynamic.

Okay, this is all fine, but what will it contain, will you ask me. Well, like I’ve always been doing on my previous sites, I’ll talk about my latest interests. Only, my blog will now allow you to see the evolution of the ideas over time and in a more organized fashion. Currently, my interests are movies, politics, video games, rabbits, weird stuff. This blog is also a place where I’ll present my point of view on current affair topics and where I’ll write about my joys, pain, sad moments, lucks, rants. I also am a photography maniac. So I’ll post a gallery of my latests pictures along.
