Top 5 Monkey Songs: B-List
Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 11:34 pm

One could have thought that after compiling my Top 5 Monkey Songs that it would be easier to rank songs for a B-List. Well, no.
It’s even harder, because this time, I didn’t use the criteria that the group need be popular. This leads to the fact that some big shot artists aren’t included among the 5, and that some lesser known artists found their way there.
Of course, this list is about my musical tastes. But I must confess I was surprised I like some artists from which I had a previously negative impression. Mea Culpa. Here is my redemption.
It’s obvious also that you will not like all these songs because it’s completely different styles. Just keep an open mind.
This ska song is included here because it’s one of the most fun monkey songs. Ska is groovy. As simple as that.
5 - Millencolin - Monkey Boogie
Manu Chao is simply a wonderful worldwide artist. Some might find this song boring. I like it because of its lyrics and the slow but steady beat totally blends well together.
4 - Manu Chao - King of the Bongo Bong
I’ve never been a fan of rap (as it was known in the 80s). But I must admit that this song by the legendary Beastie Boys kicks asses.
3 - Beastie Boys - Brass Monkey
This is the first Manson song I’ve really listened to. It’s so weird. The melody is there though. Pleasantly surprised. Go Marilyn.
2 - Marilyn Manson - My Monkey
What can I say, I’m partial to Dave Matthews. This ballad is perfect. Enough words. Listen to it.
1 - Dave Matthews Band - Proudest Monkey
You can’t get enough of Monkey Songs?
Guess what, I have yet another installment with the rest of the songs coming shortly. Stay tuned!
