Craig Ferguson sucks

vendredi, 29 juillet 2005 à 0:56

That’s the only conclusion one can draw after watching even 5 minutes of the horrible… painful Late Late Show.
The guy is not funny. He looks and sounds like a good guy, but he’s boring. dull. not funny. Do yourself a favour, Craig, if you still want a carreer when the show is cancelled. Get out. Now. Before it’s too late. You suck. Reality check time. It’s painful man. Come on. Please.

edited by brem, to keep the blog safe of “offensive words”. Don’t worry, all typos and the spirit still remain.
what the h3ll do you know you f*cked up peice of sh*t? Craig Ferguson is one of the greatest late show hosts the world has ever seen! if you had 2 miligrams (i bet you don’t know how much that is you aszh*le) of a brain you would know that if there were more people like craig in the world it would be a better place! watching that scottish comedian is the high point of my day! you know what you f*cking punk, i bet your just mad because no one wants to be with a jackazz like you for more than five minutes. you know what else? i bet you couldn’t put on a decent comedy act yourself, so your taking it out on the comedy greats! let me geuss, you hate Chris Rock, you con’t stand Adam Sandler, watching Jay Leno pisses you off, and any humor makes you boil with hatred at yourself. well, i’ll just say one more thing. say anything bad about craig again, and i will kick your f*cking azs!

  2. brem partage cette opinion avec nous:

Thanks Nathaniel, for being my first “hatemail”. Whoo hoo! A blog is not really a blog until you get hatemail. Thank you wholeheartedly.

    Now, on to your arguments.

What the hell do I know? I know that what I hear is not funny. He sucks. Now, if Craig is the high point of your day, we now all know how low your life is. Furthermore, with all the 4 letters words you are using in this laughable attempt at a commentary, one can only assume you are not very educated. I have a lot of friends, thank you very much, but I’m sure they’re not as cool as yours. I bet you all get high on every night and watch Craig. Yeah, stoned is probably the only way one could laugh at Craig’s pitiful jokes.

I’m no comedian. So no, I would never dare do comedy, but if you’re willing enough to have your own show, at least assume it. If you’re not funny, let someone else with talent do the job. Is all my saying.

Chris Rock is annoying, Adam Sandler too. Jay Leno is fine.

Ok. So in order to get my asz kicked again, I’ll say again and again.

You and Craig suck. You’re both lame. You both need a life. :-)

I see I am not the only person to find Craig Ferguson boring and offensive. I was just being tortured by having to watch one minute of his show before I found the remote. I stay up late and every night I have to flip channels to get him out of my tv and my home. I decided to see if anyone else hates him, and found quite a few hits on the web. I keep asking why this guy is on tv. I am not a comedian, but I could be funnier than him, heck, even George Bush or Dick Cheney could be funnier. Craig Ferguson is just plain boring. I simply can not stand the guy. His show is a total waste of tv time and the electricity to keep it turned on. It’s not just his lack of humor, but also his accent which is irritating, but what bothers me the most is his perverted “fake” gay act. I read that he’s not really gay, just acts the part. I am not homophobic, nor homosexual. If anyone is gay, thats their business, but I do not appreciate Craig Ferguson’s attempt at acting like a faggot. (I used the word “faggot” because there is a big difference between someone that’s gay, and someone that “acts like a faggot”). Ferguson acts the part of a faggot, and that nauseates me. In summary, EVERYTHING about him turns me off. I hate the guy. Why does CBS keep him on the air? Does anyone like him? I surely dont see why anyone would. Come on CBS, quit torturing us….

    Mark

  4. steph partage cette opinion avec nous:

I think that he has this smaltzy, dirty uncle quality about him. Some mostly women find appealing. THis tops it. He actually sat on a literary panel recently at UCLA and said that he was too old and too rich to care what anyone thought of him. Asshole, forget that Gaellic charm, he is an asshole.

  5. movingseattle partage cette opinion avec nous:

Yeah, he is a bit boring…occasionally his bits can be fairly funny. I’ve watched him several times and sometimes boring as hell, but says some funny stuff occasionally…Just keep in mind, guys, that it takes quite a bit of reserve and discipline to even attempt a ‘monolouge’ as long as he does. But, he writes alot of his own material, or at least most of it, which is admirable. Yep, he probably is a rich, pompous ass, but I have to respect what he does, even if many times, he doesnt do it too well!!

  6. movingseattle partage cette opinion avec nous:

Lets talk about em all…..how about Conan, Letterman, Leno, etc.. ?? and i was going to ask ‘Steph’, I didnt hear about the UCLA panel? Tell me about it? Thanks!

  7. clutch partage cette opinion avec nous:

I think Craig is funny and entertaining. I laugh a lot before I go to sleep whilst watching his show. For this I am grateful. I need to laugh before I sleep.

However, let’s face it; we’re all different. What’s one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. It doesn’t bother me in the least whether or not anyone likes or dislikes him. I’m just putting this in because I like the show.

I concur with Steph’s comment (accepting that it’s true) about Craig’s “too old too rich” comment. Arrogance doesn’t become anyone. However, I have to admit, I’ve had my own arrogant moments–just hopefully not in such a public venue.

    I appreciate your blog.

  8. brem partage cette opinion avec nous:

Thanks Clutch. We obviously don’t share the same idea, but at least we can discuss our opinions in a civil manner. I don’t hate the man “Craig Ferguson”, but I really do not understand why he has his own show. That’s all ;).

  9. Tricia Smith partage cette opinion avec nous:

I agree with Clutch. Not everyone will ‘get’ the humor of Craig Ferguson. To each his own! I personally think his show is refreshingly different and hysterically funny! He makes me laugh often and out loud…and laughing makes me happy! I never ever miss his show!

  10. babar partage cette opinion avec nous:

Hey, I kind of agree with you. I used to like the show a lot, and then it got kind of boring. He can be brilliant, but sometimes he just relies too much on his looks (the side looks etc etc). Plus, I’m sick and tired and hearing him ask for an earlier time slot.

  11. babar partage cette opinion avec nous:

he looks angry and pissed off more than anything else - probably wished he was an actor

  12. brem partage cette opinion avec nous:

Glad you share my opinion, babar.

Are there any good talk shows anymore?

  13. Robin partage cette opinion avec nous:

Why are you guys hating on Craig?! He is the best latenight talkshow host on the face of Earth! He is hilarious, cool, and most of all REAL. He gives a more light-hearted side of his alcoholism, and life struggles. He let’s the audience get to know him, hmmm… something the other latenight hosts don’t pleasure the audience with. His authenticity, humor, accent, and charming good looks got me from the start, I don’t know what show you guys watch, but if you are hatin’ on the man Craiger, something is wrong.

And to all you haterz, if you want to bash on my boy Craig, you will surely get your azzez kicked!

  14. Chewy partage cette opinion avec nous:

I used to love Craig, but lately he has become a jerk (could be because of his fame)
I used to send him e-mails and jokes and he would “thank” me or at least acknowledge
that he had received them…….now ………nothing.
The more I watch Craig, the more I see and in my opinion Craig is gay. So I am
weening myself off the Late Late Show and will switch to Conan O’Brien.

  16. chmmr213 partage cette opinion avec nous:

Conan. The best. His popularity on ytmnd.com illustrates that to me.

  17. irene french partage cette opinion avec nous:

Those OF YOU WHO DON’T LIKE CRAIG NEED TO MOVE ON. WHY WRITE THIS JUNK? HE WON’T APPEAL TO SOME AND OTHERS WILL LOVE HIM LIKE I DO. WHY WRITE ABOUT HIM ON THIS BLOG IF YOU DON’T LIKE HIM. WRITE CBS. WRITE HIS BOSS WHO SITS AT A DESK NOW AND ACTS SENILE…NOT MUCH COMEDY COMING OUT OF HIM LATELY. DAVE IS THE MOST REPETITIOUS JERK TALK SHOW HOST THAT I KNOW. CRAIG DOES NEED TO PUT MORE OF HIS OWN COMEDY SKITS ON THE SHOW AS IN THE PAST. HE HAS GOTTEN A BIT LAZY LATELY RELYING ON OTHERS FOR THE HUMOR WHEN HE IS THE BEST ONE ON THE SHOW. HIS GEORGE BUSH INTERVIEWS ARE RIGHT ON WITH CURRENT EVENTS EMPHASIZED. HE TAPES DAILY AND IS FRESHER. DAVE TAPES THREE TIMES A WEEK AND IS SHORT ON IDEAS.
ANYWAY THIS IS MY TAKE. I AM 66 AND MANY OF CRAIG’S FANS ARE MIDDLE AGE WOMEN WHO FIND HIM SEXY AND HANDSOME. HE HAS QUITE A GROUPIE FOLLOWING.

  18. brem partage cette opinion avec nous:

So you’re an angry old woman. Welcome on my blog.

  19. Not a Fan partage cette opinion avec nous:

I obviously found this blog because I wanted to see how many others are completely baffled that this man has his own show and it’s still running.

While Craig is a decent-looking guy with a small amount of charm, he is NOT funny. How many fucking times can you say, “Welcome back, my little (whatever)”, or do the stupid “dial-tone gag” adnauseum. He cracks himself up (see: Jimmy Fallon), and he thinks that his weird, cocky look into the camera is the funniest thing on TV. He comes across as very arrogant, yet unpolished, unschooled, the kind of guy who might be fine in a small club as the MC, introducing other comedians, but by NO means is a headline act.

I thought Kilborne was barely tolerable, but in comparison I would love to see him resume the spot.

Fergie’s interviewing skills are weak, he tries way too hard, over-exaggerates his mannerisms, looks, and….the ACCENT….OHG, can there be a more annoying dialect?

I have tried several times to sit through five minutes of his show, and I’m telling you, I cannot! Most often I hear him in the background, as I am a huge Letterman advocate, and afterwards, I leave the room to get on the PC, and hear Fergie in the background. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten up, went back in the TV room to go change the channel, just because it irritates me that much.

Congrats to all those who like him…to each his own, but I felt strongly enough about it to post my thoughts on this blog. Someone should send the blog to CBS.

    Sorry Craig, NOT A FAN!!!

OK, now to find the “Leno sucks” blog…

  20. LindaLi partage cette opinion avec nous:

I found this blog by an accident, just like I found Craig by an accident. I am Finnish and I live in Finland. Over here you can’t see the Late Late Show. Conan o’ Brien’s show comes on TV about a week late. (And now I apologize for my English. I hope you forgive my mistakes and still get my points).

First time I saw The Late Late Show was maybe a month ago when I accidentally stubled over it on youtube.com. I find Craig very funny and I truly enjoy watching the clips. I have never seen a whole show at once, but still my opinion is that he is much funnier than Conan, who I find arrogant.

But of course, as it already is said, we all have our own different likes and dislikes. But for sure I hope that we in Finland one day would be able to watch Craig Ferguson.

And by the way, someone here said he probably wants to be an actor: actually he is. Yesterday here came on TV a film he was in. It is called “The Soul Keeper” in English. And if you check out him on example IMDB you will notice that he has been in several films. (Most of them in my opinion only crap, but that doesn’t make him less an actor than other actors). And, that just proves to me that he should be a comedian, and that The Late Late Show is exactly where he should be at the moment.

I say thanks for beeing able to share my opinion, and greetings to everyone from Finland ;)

  21. Joe partage cette opinion avec nous:

I completely agree with you guys. Craig Ferguson is an idiotic moron. I do not understand why people think he’s funny. Max I can watch of him is 20 seconds, then I have to change the channel. I’m dead serious. 20 seconds… I timed myself.

Obviously I found this site because I was completely baffled by the fact that his show is still on the air, and wanted to see if anybody else thought the way I did. After searching for “Craig Ferguson is stupid”, and “Annoying Craig Ferguson”, and “I hate Craig Ferguson”, I came upon this little blog. All I can say is THANK YOU. THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING PEOPLE LIKE US TO HAVE A VOICE IN THE WORLD.

Inspired by your blog, I am now proposing that all who find Craig Ferguson should unite in our quest to stop his tirade. Craig Ferguson must go down. We must stand up and unite in our hatred of Ferguson. It is the only way to prevent him from destroying late night television, and the world as we know it. Please, join hands - and voices - with me in my crusade against Craig Ferguson.

    Sincerely,
    Joe

  23. Joe partage cette opinion avec nous:

*chanting* - Craig Ferguson is only midly to not funny - *chanting* - Craig Ferguson’s jokes are lame - *chanting* - Craig Ferguson should not be allowed to have his own talk show - *chanting*

  24. YoYoMama-In-Law partage cette opinion avec nous:

Lettuce pray….for the jealous louses hating on Craig. Your greeness emanates a disturbing vibe!!! Not only are you jealous of his looks, your inability to understand humor is obvious. Sure…to each his own. But the haters here are “humor blind.” (Contrast to “color blind”).

Bet the haters here are big Adam Sandler fans and all teenagers.

Grow up and smell the humor.

    Love you, mean it,

  25. frank partage cette opinion avec nous:

I find craig very funny. Yes he has been doing the same kind of stand up stuff since his days as Bing Hitler (boy he was savage then) (Whales??? Big fat Bastards who wallow around all day eating plankton…Kill ‘em all!”) but it’s funny for some, not for others. But ffs if slating him in this forum is so important therapy….wooo hooo carry on. It’s funny too!

  26. Simon Webb partage cette opinion avec nous:

Faux-faggy-Craig is a little repetitive, which makes him predictable but safe, like your late-night cocoa - it’s familiar, and it helps you sleep. The gay self-references are rather coy - very traditional British hunour - Benny Hill, Frankie Howard et al. I’ve been a new Craig fan for a year, really keen - but now I’m bored - the guy doesn’t offend, doesn’t provoke. Best thing about him is that he isn’t any of the other guys - Leno might appeal to my late mother-in-law, along with Lawrence Welk; Letterman is a spoiled child - nya-nya-nya-nya - but fundamentally gutless in the face of real talent; Conan is smart but still embarrassing in performance. I guess I stopped watching a few weeks ago. Has he been funny yet? (Note to uber-fans - get an education)

  27. realscoop partage cette opinion avec nous:

Craig Ferguson blows, big time. I wish they put a commercial between Letterman and Ferguson so I didn’t have to hear that horrible relax, undo your pants joke (again). Sometimes I watch a min just to enjoy the train wreck.

The most annoying/amazing part of the show is when he makes these total stale jokes and the audience falls out of their chairs laughing. WTF? Bizarro.

Adam Sandler/Bob Saget fans rejoice - more schlock for you to enjoy

  28. frank partage cette opinion avec nous:

uber fan?…is that me?…I do have a very good education, thanks, but i still like toilet humour

  29. TiCL partage cette opinion avec nous:

Craig Furguson sucks donkey urine. He was only funny for like five minutes and that was for his Scottish accent.

  30. mikeh partage cette opinion avec nous:

what the? Is this the hate furgy page?

Craig is one of the funniest men on TV… period.. only second to letterman… you people are CRAZY!

  31. Dude partage cette opinion avec nous:

For some reason, Youtube always features clips of Craig Ferguson so I’ve watched a few. I haven’t laughed once! Not only is the writing dull, but his delivery is quite often off the mark.

I don’t understand how anyone can find him funny…

  32. goatcheese partage cette opinion avec nous:

i’ve got to agree with realscoop. i watch the first couple minutes, just to get a sense of the pain. my theory is this: when conan takes over leno, edginess will move into the prime slot. cbs needs someone lame to attend to all the lower iq’s like leno does now. yes, humor is subjective, but generally speaking, dumb guys laugh at dumb stuff. craig ferguson is about as dumb as it gets. he’s downright sagetonian. craig kilborn, we need you.

  33. joe partage cette opinion avec nous:

Craig Ferguson sucks- he is absolutely terrible- nothing to say, completely boring.

  34. Brianna Banks partage cette opinion avec nous:

He has obviously changed your lives if you bother to start a blog and contribute to it.
He is obviously good at what he is doing (confirmation also comes from the pretty frequent self-referential instances of irony); else, he would not last a bloody sec.
The point is you do not have to like him. Watch what you like (if anything). Live your lives.
    But you know all these.
Good chou (and/or booze) on all of you’s tables!
    See you at http://1ay.2.pollhost.com/

  35. Ferguson partage cette opinion avec nous:

    You guys are jerks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  36. drinklime partage cette opinion avec nous:

I used to hate craig ferguson, then i was channel surfing one time and he said some joke that had me laughing hysterically, which is very rare. so now ive been watching him from time to time and he has grown on me. its a nice change of pace from conan.

  37. MB partage cette opinion avec nous:

I think Craig is hilarious; however, I agree with whoever it was that said Adam Sandler is BAD. The only thing I liked him in was Waterboy, and I really didn’t like him - his mother, girlfriend and coach were hilarious. He is the kind of guy who must have connections (kind of like Paul on Letterman). They have to take him because he knows the right people or something.
Craig Ferguson just has that weird British humour thing going on - or is it anti British humour since he is Scottish. Anyway, it either appeals to you or it doesn’t. I laugh out loud every time I watch him. I think he is great and SUCH an improvement over the last guy - arrogant, boring and very un-funny - so bad I can’t even remember his name - only something about 5 questions. He was terrible. I really like the show. Maybe the sound effects and the accent have something to do with it.

  38. burl partage cette opinion avec nous:

Ferguson SUCKS beyond belief, the fact that he has a late night show is a sad statement to our times.

Late night is supposed to be a time of experiment, this guy is boring and unfunny.

  39. This is dumb partage cette opinion avec nous:

This is so stupid. I went to google Ferguson and found this site. It is completely appalling that you all don’t have time to do anything else but “hate” Craig. I happen to like him. But then I don’t really “hate” anyone.

I think you should get a real life and don’t be so dumb to start a blog about stupid stuff.

There are several people that you mentioned that I don’t really find funny at all, not even intelligent, but then again, I don’t watch what I don’t like! Turn the darn channel. Obviously you have watched him enough to get your panties in a wad. At least he is man enough to make fun of himself. Something I would assume you wouldn’t do.

As for the rest of you “haters”, you must have searched for Ferguson’s name on the web. Why? You either secretly like him, our you have nothing better to do. Don’t you have jobs or friends? Or are you just geeks that sit in front of the computer?? That’s pretty lame if you ask me.

  40. HighlandGunn partage cette opinion avec nous:

“This is dumb” said it right. I think the man (Ferguson) is one of the funniest people out there because alot of the stuff he talks about is true in a sense, and the funniest stuff is what is true. He acts gay because it’s fucking hilarious. I think it’s funny when people make fun of fags anyway.

You “haters” don’t think he’s funny because makes fun of your incompetence and your faggot lifestyles. Hell, I think that’s the least he could do for the world.

Long live Craig Ferguson and Scotland!

  41. JJ partage cette opinion avec nous:

I agree with you that Craig Ferguson is very funny. I have to say though that your complete ignorance of making fun of someone because of their human nature is ridiculous. You are obviously an uneducated and unenlightened loser.

I hope that one day when you, god forbid, have children that they don’t result in suicide because you couldn’t deal with their homosexuality.

Bit of advice for you; get a clue. Making fun of others is not fun it is stupid. Why would one openly admit to being such a bigot?

  42. are you kidding partage cette opinion avec nous:

craig ferguson is the lamest MF on tv ……thats all

  43. Like Watching Paint Dry partage cette opinion avec nous:

Craig is boring. Sad, though. I only enjoyed The Drew Carey Show because of his Mr. Wick character. Go back to acting and leave the hosting to the pros. Actually, I think Drew Carey would be a better host because he sucks as an actor, blatantly reading cue cards.

  44. disagrees with this blog partage cette opinion avec nous:

I think Craig Ferguson is highlarious, and you may hate him….but his ratings are up, closing in on Conan….so obviously a few people like him. He is MUCH better than Letterman and I hope Craig replaces him. I personally find his humor highlarious, and he is BY FAR the best late night talk show host out there.

  45. Craig Still not canceled partage cette opinion avec nous:

I know you are entitled to your opinion, but I and many other people I know watch his show on a regular basis. Yes, he is not ALWAYS funny, but I don’t know that any late night guy who is. The only thing I don’t like about him is that he is gay and talks about it so much.

  46. Megga partage cette opinion avec nous:

What kind of answer can be written to someone doesn’t like a TV personality simply because he’s gay? So I won’t even try, even if we avoid this pea-brain’s homophobia issues to simply point out that just because someone acts gay doesn’t mean he is. Jerry Lewis was the first to do this, and many others have followed. As for the question of whether Ferguson is funny….well, is any late night talk show host always funny? Or even funny most of the time? The best you can hope for is a few good laughs a show. The reason why Ferguson stands out is because he’s the first comedian on TV to tell a somewhat long, somewhat intellectual, somewhat rambling story with a few small chuckles and (sometimes) an eventual big payoff since Woody Allen and Bill Cosby in their stand-up days of the 1960s. If you appreciate a combination of dry European humor (for this, you need to realize the world doesn’t end at California on one end and New York on the other…), a lot of double-entendre, and you’re willing to do a little thinking on your own as you digest a routine, then you’ll like this guy. If not, turn to Spike….there’s always a car chase going on…much easier for simple minds to understand. Maybe it will be a shiny car…..all the better.

  47. Debra L partage cette opinion avec nous:

Compared to Craig F, Letterman et al is beyond boring. DL is obviously tired of reading his cue cards and has stopped trying to be funny. I can’t stand watching him while I wait to burn Craig’s monologue on DVD every night since 2005. Craig is in a league with Johnny Carson (he is better than all hosts and that will be proved in the coming years) …the bar is now set very high for future late night hosts. For those too limited in brain function and true dark comedy to realise his genius, Craig does do some “low-brow” content on his hsow, but he’s very aware he’s doing it, his true fans are aware he’s doing it on purpose…and it just makes him more funny because we KNOW how unbelievably brilliant he is…and he is so unique in being an intellectual beyond what most of a TV audience can comprehend…He is the funniest natural comic on tv period (no cue cards people!!! night after night) that the future of late night WILL be forced to EVOLVE because in the coming years he will become the one to look to for influence. I’d like to see Letterman, Leno and Conan do a 9-12 minute opening monologue 5 nights a week (and do stand up nationally on weekends?) writing any of it themselves at all, much less not having it all written down for them to READ. It is so -obvious- the “others” are reading lines written for them, and Craig F is ad-libbing a great deal of the time. I know Craig F respects Letterman, but he is a very humble man obviously…I can’t believe he doesn’t know somewhere in his heart that he has turned his competition into comedy talk-show has beens-wannabes-…I’ll bet THEY know and realise their contributions to late-night will be forgotten in history because of Craig Ferguson’s stunning talent. I have no doubt he will just continue to get better and he will be way more famous than the lot of them…if he can stand becoming really famous-it sounds like he doesn’t care for that aspect of his job. and may not be excited or interested in an earlier time slot in approx 2011. Plus, he’s the most gorgeous man on TV. (yeah that’s right I said it)

  48. Take him off air partage cette opinion avec nous:

You have got to be kidding me. How can anyone like Craig Ferguson? I searched “I hate Craig Ferguson” and was glad to see that many others agree with me. I don’t understand why he is still on tv. Take him off the air! Please. He is the worst late night talk show ever. I love Conan! And he started new shows this week with no writers. Conan is naturally funny.

  49. Jake partage cette opinion avec nous:

Ferguson makes me laugh. Leno, Letterman, so so. Kimmel sometimes is o.k. Conan, well whatever.

  50. Jim partage cette opinion avec nous:

I happen to be an old acquaintance of Craig’s - I never watched his show until a couple of weeks ago(jan 10 2008). you seem to have a cerain fear of his talent. Interesting you would have a blog on a late late night tv show host. I’m sure Craig cares about your opinion less than I do, which is barely possible….

  51. brem partage cette opinion avec nous:

Jim: the fact you never watched his show until a couple of weeks ago shows how much you care about your old pal.

I’m not saying he has not talent, I’m saying he sucks at hosting a late night show. Which I believe, is an opinion shared by many.

    take care.

  52. jill partage cette opinion avec nous:

Craig Ferguson is by far, the best talk show host out there, definitely akin to Carson. Letterman is tired and dull, and seems to be ready to retire. Leno still does a good monologue. Conan is same old same old, but in all fairness, he has had some great gigs over the years. Ferguson does the low brow, the high brow and the in between, and for those who think he is not too bright, you have missed the mark. He has published a book called Between the River and the Bridge which received ONLY rave reviews from top notch book reviewers. He was always into literature and reads very heady books. So, imagine being funny, erudite, and easy on the eyes, yet empathetic and very aware of how lucky he is to have stepped out of a deadend lifestyle into a promising future. The man deserves credit for that and if you think not, move on.

  53. Ray partage cette opinion avec nous:

I think C.F. is absolute genius. Yes his humor may not be appreciated by all…some people hate rap, some love it, I love his style. But don’t be so arrogant to say he sucks or whatever, it shows your immaturity and disdain for compromise or the ability to allow others their likes. I’ve been in the entertainment business for 32 years and I’m still successful. I’m sure some don’t like me, that’s fine, but sucks is not in their vocabulary. One doesn’t get a show like his by not being talented. Letterman has ruled late night for close to 30 years and Carson before him. Are they loved by everybody - no. But you can’t take their success away from them…look inward to your life, I’m sure you’re not one of the best in your field. When you get to that level maybe you are entitled to use the word sucks, until then keep it to you. I think people tend to take their inner most fears and publicly display them against others.Hmmmm…

  54. MD partage cette opinion avec nous:

Craig F. is an absolute tool. He can’t tell a joke, but most importantly he knows he sucks and he knows his show sucks. And he doesnt have a band. Besides that let bigons be bigons.

  55. JR partage cette opinion avec nous:

3 years later and we are still talking about CF being rotten….Well who is really having the last laugh…CF brings a complete new outlook to Late Night. Late Night has been needing an overhaul and hopefully there will be more like him….

    “Ah the best big man”

  56. burt partage cette opinion avec nous:

Almost 3 years since you post it this and his show is not canceled!

Craig is absolutely unwatchable!!! I am so glad to see that I’m not crazy. I am an avid comedy fan. I spend many, many weekends at comedy clubs and have seen many big name and unknown comedians. Craig is amateur at best. I’ve watched his show several times. Sure, throughout the show I may chuckle once or twice, but it mostly bores me. I have actually watched a few shows with people and cracked up laughing at Craig…not at his jokes, but at the train wreck that is his comedic style. He must have really known somebody to get this slot. Conan is great. Letterman is great. Leno is great. Craig sucks.

  58. God partage cette opinion avec nous:

I guess he must be unwatchable, since he just beat Conan in the latest ratings…

To put it mildly, he’s probably speaking too fast for most of you, then you have no idea what is going on, so you say he’s boring. Go back to watching Survivor and American Idol, since these are the shows you drones like to watch.

criag rocks wtf are you guys smoking saying he isnt funny. morons. i like both conan and criag, craigs monolouges are so funny. but conans interviews are TOP i dont think criag will be as funny as conan in interviews.

I think most of you people who think Craig Ferguson isn’t funny or smart, are really uptight and probably aren’t that smart yourselves. AND you probably have no idea what IT is, and couldn’t have the slightest glimpse into what it really takes to succeed in this business, which he is CLEARLY doing. If you hate his late night show, just to show you what he’s got, pick up a copy of his amazing novel. “Between the Bridge and the River.”

  61. stormyred partage cette opinion avec nous:

I just saw Craig perform at the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal. For anyone who says he is not talented, you are delusional. It was an AMAZING show, including a MUSICAL number… he has a great singing voice! The media all said his show was the best of the festival. Like someone posted earlier, if you don’t like him personally, that’s your business. But to degrade him is just uncalled for and immature. He’s a wonderful person & very talented and I hope he is on Tv for many, many years to come!

  62. jeff partage cette opinion avec nous:

I always thought Craig was pretty good and alot better than that dried up old piece of crap Letterman thats on just before him. I can do without Letterman, but Craig brings to the Comedy world an unusual style. I guess I could do without the Homophobia, but Im atleast secure with myself and can see the humor in it, how about a few of you fools, eh? lmao
Conan is pretty dry aswell as Letterman, but then again theres the nutcase Jimmy Kimmel. This guy is surely a sad sack of crap. I see he finally bought himself a new suit or two, lmfao And all the retreads he brings on his show suck including all that Rapa crap we can all do without.

I think there are A TON of men out there that have “man crushes” on Craig Ferguson. They kiss the ground he walks on and will defend him to the end. The same with certain women who are obsessed with him. I saw him perform live in Las Vegas and my entire image and idea about him changed. He is a jerk. Completely flawed and contrary to what he says on his show, I think he has had alcohol and/or drugs in the last 10 years. You can tell he has A LOT of unresolved issues…..

  66. Kim partage cette opinion avec nous:

For the record this “belinda joy” poster put up a hateful video of Craig and then turned right around and put up an apology video to Craig. Looks like Craig isn’t the only one being two faced.

I saw a few minutes of this guy on youtube with Robert Downey Jr and it was torture. This guy has about as much charm as a cracked Glaswegian sewer, but at least it would flow. He really didn’t know where to go with the conversation, being devoid of wit and improv, despite being with a great, funny, comic actor, so rambled on about Halo and crap. In frustration i found this thread (Googled CRAIG FERGUSON CRAP) to see if anyone else was as astounded as me that this guy is actually paid to conduct a tv interview show.

  69. UsedToLikeCraig partage cette opinion avec nous:

I used to think Craig was funny, but lately his monologues are the same thing night after night. 3 minutes of “relax, sit down”, the obligatory Paul McCartney picture, one-sided jokes and attacks on McCain, recycled jokes from the night before, and filler material of acting gay inbetween. Maybe the writers are to blame, but he should realize that if he doesn’t have the material he can’t maintain the length of his monologue. Dave gave up trying too (and trying to be funny) long ago.

  70. LiberalAttackDog partage cette opinion avec nous:

This guy is not funny at all, and he uses his show every night to levy attacks on McCain/Palin. Not jokes, just plain garbage: misrepresentations of fact, selective editing, etc. No wonder Dave L. hired him.

  72. Indiana Fans partage cette opinion avec nous:

Wow. People really can be cruel when attacking anonymously. We were feeling a bit guilty for complaining to Mr. Ferguson’s program about a recent guest. We typed in “craig ferguson blogs” to see if we could find out how others received the appearance of this particular guest, and we found this. While it’s heartening to read that some people seem to react from a place of civility and sincerity, it seems a large number of responders here react from a much uglier place. Isn’t it possible, even preferable, to make one’s point without four-letter words, or personal attacks? If you don’t enjoy the program, it’s your privilege to turn elsewhere. What do you gain from being nasty or hurtful to someone else? Yes, we do enjoy the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and have for several years now. He seems determined to be authentic–one might say more than one normally finds in those who make a living as entertainers. Can you appreciate how hard that is for a regular Joe, let alone someone who is stepping it one day at a time? He has ‘warts’, as we all do, but doesn’t seem to be trussed up by trying to hide them. He jokes about his own personal foibles, great and small, and doesn’t even try to hide behind the smarminess that some entertainers try to pass off as “real”. Give him a break. He does a great job most of the time, and delivers darn good the rest. His is a tough job whatever you may think. His monologues are truly extraordinary–did you see his rant on the death of punk? Hysterical…and REAL. Did you hear what he said about being proud to be an American on the night after the election? Does a repeated fart joke about the studio bathroom really offend your sensibilities more than the rampaging masturbating bear on Conan? Have you watched him interview Larry Block, Connie Schultz (Sharrod’s wife), Carl Reiner, Denis Leary, the Egyptologist from LACMA, Barry Sonenfeld,or John Malkovich? What about the night he gave a spot to the Starbuck’s barista? Julie Gribble, was it? Who, on late night or any talk show, would do that? And, come on…the variety he embraces in his musical guests from Alice Cooper to Big&Rich to Duffy to Ludacris…WOW. Did you see the show with Ringo Starr? You really missed something there. He’s not afraid to break the mould, and while he is courteous and polite to his guests, he’s no sycophant. Guess what? He treats them like they’re real people, talented people, but real people nonetheless. That means he neither fawns over nor rails against them. It’s a conversation, not a fluff-stop. And, yes, you can tell which guests are uncomfortable with that…but, doesn’t that say more about them than him? A few words about good looks. They fade. They obfuscate the bearer, and they mollify the viewer–but only for a while. Professionally, real talent is what lasts, and on a personal level, real heart. It seems to us that Mr. Ferguson has both talent and heart. Maybe you should check in to the program more often. Worst case, you have to turn the channel, right?

  73. ferguson sucks partage cette opinion avec nous:

This guy is a complete joke. Should be banished from ever appearing on television again.

Go back to Scotland you no talent piece of dog shit.

  74. sorry craig, you're not funny partage cette opinion avec nous:

When he first came on back in 2005, I was really excited because I remembered how funny Mr. Wick was from the Drew Carey Show. However, it didn’t take more than a few times watching his show (painfully) all the way through until I realized that I liked him in that show because he is a good actor, not a good comedian. I love Letterman and I’d think he’d have a good sense of who’s funny and who’s not, but I have to say that Craig has some of the most shallow, stupid crap I’ve ever seen on TV, and it sickens me when the audience laughs hysterically on queue while I’m sitting there trying to figure out any reason why I should be laughing at all. Sorry Craig, but you’re really, truly not funny in any sense.

  75. Jeff partage cette opinion avec nous:

Wow! I’ve just read through three years of blogs regarding whether Craig Ferguson sucks or not. I stumbled upon this blog as I was trying to ascertain whether he was gay or not, since I had just read that he had gotten married (to a woman) last week. That people would spend their time posting, replying, and many times replying over and over again, often with such venom and hate over someone they don’t even know, is just amazing to me. You people need to get a life!

  76. Chris partage cette opinion avec nous:

I find it fascinating that CBS has continued to keep this hack on the air. I searched this blog because I wanted to see if I was alone in my absolute hatred of this mans show. I don’t hate craig, but his talent is absolutely absent. I think it’s entirely possible that he has dirt on a producer at CBS. The worst part about this blog is that there are actually people out there that find him funny. Seriously, anyone that finds this man funny has a pathetic life. Do these people ever get out? I’ve seen billboards more funny and entertaining than this hack. I can’t quite pin point what it is about him, but I think he strikes an anger in me that wants to reach through the TV and gouge a spoon through his eye. Is that weird? I don’t think there is any other TV personality in my lifetime that is as talentless as this Douche Bag. Please do us all a favor, Craig, quit now. And to those of you that think Craig is funny, I challenge you to quote him. On one thing the man has said that made you laugh. I guarantee it will not make me laugh, because HE’s NOT FUNNY!

  77. Chris partage cette opinion avec nous:

And, Jeff, you just admitted you were searching to find out if Craig Ferguson was gay. Um, I’m sorry, but I think it’s you curiously gay ass that needs to get a life.

  78. Chris partage cette opinion avec nous:

Hey, Iniana Fans, your comments are noted. I disagree with all of them. It really pisses me off that CBS has to waste air waves during my down time with such aweful programming. I’d rather watch the golden globes or all of my children.

  79. Marge partage cette opinion avec nous:

I’ve turned on the Late Late Show half a dozen times. It was so boring, I had to switch channels four times out of the six, but it can be very amusing. I do think he’s a good-looking guy. Also, his parodies of Prince Charles I’ve seen on YouTube are hilarious. I never thought he was gay, just wacky.

  80. Kevin partage cette opinion avec nous:

I am 31, from Scotland, been living in USA for 3 years. I was familiar with Craig Ferguson for a fair while before seeing him on his chat show. He is bloody awful, never has been funny, there are many, many far more talented/funny Scots who deserve this break more than Ferguson. Now i concede that he must have been able to schmooze very well to work his way into this position and i’m sure it took a lot of hard work and dedication but the man is simply not funny. Billy Connolly he is not , Brian Connolly maybe lol

  81. kadi1013 partage cette opinion avec nous:

Craig Ferguson sucks so much that I actually googled “Does Craig Ferguson use a laugh track for his show?” It sounds like completely canned laughter. I would not be surprised if someone was paid to hold up “laugh now” signs to the audience somewhere out of sight of the cameras. Also, what is with that ANNOYING theme song??? When I hear that come on I know it is time to either change the channel or go to bed.

Also, Conan O’Brian is definitely the funniest late night talk show host out there right now. David Letterman is just as good, but is a little less fresh… I mean, he’s 60! But Dave is a class act, funny, and knows how to use a certain look, tone, or offbeat silly statement to elicit a laugh from his audience… and that definitely takes talent.

Craig Ferguson (whose name I even hate typing) cannot draw a laugh without ridiculous costumes, a real (but almost certainly exaggerated) accent, and stupid costumes. AWFUL! If television shows could smell, his would smell like rotten tomatoes.

  82. kadi1013 partage cette opinion avec nous:

I HATE the The Late Late Show w/Craig Ferguson!

  83. Puddie partage cette opinion avec nous:

I’m just wondering how much Craig gets paid. He complains a lot about not getting paid enough. I think he used to be great, and now he’s just stale, and he doesn’t even have to put forth any effort to collect his cheque. I can see why people might have sour grapes over this. Why won’t he try? Maybe it’s just human nature to rest on laurels for as long as humanly possible.

    ON THE OTHER HAND…

His fans are very easily entertained and undemanding. If anything, they insist that the humor be kept at bathroom level by praising and congratulating him all the time. So if he does anything different, he may lose his enormous fan base.

I think I wanted Craig to use that spirituality of his, and those ideals of his, to elevate comedy, perchance to elevate the minds of the American public. Maybe he wanted to as well, but his demographic just won’t let him.

I remember watching him one night, and he admitted to being blue - but then turned that into a hilarious rage routine. Maybe it’s an awful grind to be stuck in a contract in a show with nowhere to go.

Even if he says he’s too old and too rich to care, I don’t believe him. I think he’d really prefer to leave some sort of legacy.

If I had managed to work myself into the kind of position he has, I would cringe thinking that this “body of work”, is what I’d be remembered for when I croak. I suspect he does too.

  84. Midnight Chief partage cette opinion avec nous:

When I first started watching Craig (2 months ago) I thought he was funny as hell. I must have tuned in on a good month or something because his shows have got progressively worse in the last month. If he can’t carry his show, he often expects his hollywood guest to carry it for him. I hope the show gets better because it indeed had its moments. Letterman had Martin Short on the whole night the other day, I think he felt his shows were going south just a bit and Martin came on…even did the whole song and dance! felt like an old J.Carson show. J. Kimmel also seems to suck, haven’t watched it a lot but the other night when the Shia LeBeouf was on I could not believe how bad the show got. Could it be that newer or “hot” actors/actress have hit an all time shallow as well?

  85. Not Offended partage cette opinion avec nous:

WOW, I am a BIG Craig fan, so obviously I found this blog rude, annoying and redundant at first, but what really made me laugh were all of the freakin’ comments! I can’t believe some people actually feel this strongly about a freaking LATE NIGHT TELEVISION HOST. I never miss his show, so apparently I should be pissed the he’ll off, but I can’t help but smile at all the strong words used to degrade and uplift this blog! IT’S HILARIOUS! First of all, I am a teenager, so no “nerd sitting at a computer with nothing to do” jokes, please. I’ve heard ‘em all and it gets old. Second, maybe I enjoy the show BECAUSE I’m a teenager and haven’t watch alot of shows in my day that can compete. Third, notice my complete lack of swear words. That’s my way of implying that I’M FINE WITH THE BLOG! I enjoy reading others’ opinions because some actually make sense.
Anyway, well done in the blog! It’s almost as entertaining as the show it offends. ;D

I started watching Craig last August. I really thought he was funny, quick-witted and smart. Started taping the show — loved the puppets and musical numbers. Then, I started noticing small things…

Mean-spirited, sometimes nasty jokes. Being flippant, sometimes a jerk while reading email. His obsession with his own penis. Constant toilet humor, especially fart jokes. Acting bored with certain guests or turning the conversation to himself. And finally, the political stuff…

The guy could use a huge dose of maturity. As he likes to say, “Oh, everyone thinks fart jokes are funny!” Yeah, everyone who is 13 years old…grow up Craig. Seriously.

Sorry to suggest a social concern.
However, it is important for Mr. Ferguson
to separate romantic love from sexuality, body functions
and parts. And he is succeeding since none of you seem
to notice. This is of course- a radical, gay male point of
view. Many things are creeping up on us in our society and
culture and this hammering constantly that sex is separate
from the greatest joy (romantic love) is one of them.

This is in reference to all of those who are cussing and throwing words of hate at one another over this blog. I personally really enjoy Craig Ferguson and have for years! Granted his humor is not for everyone but we should celebrate our differences instead of attack one another over them. If everyone felt the same way about everything- what a boring world this would be! As a supporter of Craig Ferguson’s I suggest that any of you who wish violence on this blog’s author for simply stating his opinion need to lock yourselves in a closet and never come out again. 104. Otis P. Driftwood partage cette opinion avec nous:

It gives me hope to see (at least a handful of) Americans uniting against this despicable, trivial little man.
I’m British myself, and consider ‘Fergie’s’ ‘comedy’ to be truly of the lowest common denominator. It is the kind of thing that terrible comedians used to do in England 2 or 3 decades ago. He would be an abysmal failure if he tried to make it in the UK today. Utterly dated.

To say that those who don’t like his humour don’t have sufficient education ‘to get it’ is simply absurd: the very opposite is probably true for most cases (the messages above seem to bear this out, with the naysayers offering far more eloquent and well-reasoned responses than the yaysayers). There’s no subtlety or wit to his comedy at all. There’s nothing *to* get: no irony, satire, or anything that appeals to higher brain functions. Even as toilet humour (which I agree, can be funny too, if done well) it falls well short. The man’s a moron and, by extension, I expect his fans must be too.

Furthermore, this whole “let’s celebrate the differences”, “each to their own” relativist’s response drives me up the wall: there *is* such a thing as ‘good’ and ‘bad’ comedy, just as in art and music one can rank various works (and, indeed, physics and maths, and virtually all other disciplines, even [shock horror] cultures and social systems). It is the height of arrogance to suggest otherwise. It is usually the most stupid and lazy who deliver this response, and then brand those who would say otherwise as ‘elitists,’ as if they ought to be ashamed of having well-developed tastes and thoughts. Those who think the man is quick witted are evidently operating on a much slower wit-setting. I advise you to improve yourselves by trying to watch more challenging material (just as one does in other fields to get good at something). Note: Leno, Letterman, and Conan are not good alternatives. I said *challenging* - US talk show hosts are amongst the worst cretins imaginable. They are odious people. So far as I can see, Bill Maher is the only one with the vaguest scent of talent.

By the way, the only genuinely ‘great’ (and challenging, stimulating, thought provoking) comedian America had (Bill Hicks) couldn’t even make it over there: he had to come to England to find people who got it. He suffered immense irritation and frustration at his own countryfolk, and I can see why. (Don’t get annoyed here: America has plenty of very good comedians, but Hicks was an alien relative to them).

    Now breathe…
    There, that’s better.

  107. Rich partage cette opinion avec nous:

Yes, I hate to say it too, cause the guy gave it the ole college try, but man oh man does the Craig Ferguson show suck hard. Somebody, please put it out of it’s misery. We have had enough!
Let’s start with the lame, infantile puppets. I click the channel immediately to anything else when I see these pitiful things. Any infomercial is funnier than the puppets. They are never funny? How desperate do you have to be to use these excruciatingly bad bits with the puppets. Wow, are they ever bad. I mean, don’t get me wrong. Once in a while I’m all for a little dry wit & humor, or some dead pan comedy, but these puppet wrecks are so painful to watch. So I don’t watch them if I can reach the remote.
Then, he pulls out the bait that all the conservatives and cattle prodded audience member are required to laugh and cheer at with the “It’s a great day for America everybody” line. Wow, is that lame, too.
Then we are subjected to one or two part, super long-winded monologues and/or sketch comedy bits that I know Craig himself has got to be the bad writer of some of them. (The only one I kind of laugh at is the Prince Charles ones. Then he pukes some moronic tirade that’s supposed to pass for a monologue that rarely if ever brings up a laugh.
And what’s up with the animatronics robot thing with the broken recording of Shadow Stevens saying “In your pants.” I was sort of funny the first few times he said it, but that was it, and now it’s about like an abscess wisdom tooth you wanna yank out by the root without Novocain to make it stop throbbing. Now, the “In your pants” thing is painfully boring and must be stopped at once.
Then there’s the beatings he gives to his poor guests. I bet if you took a survey of his guests, a majority of them would say he really is a poor host, interviewer and a real first class corn hole. You can clearly tell he consistently offends the guests he doesn’t like, but you can see some of them try to play it off with nervous laughter trying to cover up their chagrin at Craig’s antics, believing that they might get their eyes scratched out if they shot back with something funnier, or put Craig in his place. Geeze, what a hack with no interviewing skills at all!
If his guest is some full-figured ditsy chick with a lot of skin showing who acts like she’s fawning all over his every word, then he treats them pretty well with the exception of the awkward, pushy, self deprecating sexual innuendos that leave the ladies uneasy, thinking about calling Gloria Allred or something.
You can tell when he doesn’t like a guest by his tone in the lame questions he asks and then you can see he doesn’t treat them very nicely at all. The male guests get a worse treatment too where you can also tell right away if Craig doesn’t really like them. Craig doesn’t do much better with the guests he likes either really. He stumbles over his own stupid questions and moronic comments all the time.
The questions he asks everybody are usually very poorly worded, and are questions he obviously already knows the answers to because of the staff research, and so he pretty much answers the questions he asks with the question. The guests really have nothing more to say than monosyllabic answers to Craig’s questions, especially when he is in anti-guest mode.
Let’s face it, if you take away the puppets, the juvenile penis jokes, censored profanity, and the patronizing one liners, you’d really have more or less an hour of silence on your TV that would parallel the silence in your house of nobody laughing. I don’t think it would take too much to start a new reality show and call it “The Next Top Talk Show Host” to find a replacement for Craig in no time.
The really painful thing about him is that he spouts off here and there about how he is a former drunken junkie but is now a clean and sober person, but then he does drinking and drugging jokes which is particularly sad. That would be like Bill Clinton doing cigar jokes or Mike Tyson doing some ear chewing humor or something.
Craig Ferguson needs to be cancelled or at least take the pen out of his hand, fire all the writers on the show and start from scratch and hire a new set of writers. Get some writers from The Onion.com, or even some writers from the old Mad TV show, or what the heck, get that guy “Lyle The Intern” from Letterman to do some shtick on there. Something’s got to give. Jimmy Fallon is much better than Craig already and Jimmy Fallon is getting better every time I switch to him instead of patronizing Craig hoping against hope that one day he will actually make me laugh out loud which hasn’t happened in along time on Craig’s show. Craig only gets worse every time I see him. At least I get a couple of belly laughs out of Jimmy Fallon. Jimmy Kimmel is only a little better than Craig, so I kind of feel at a lost for laughs in my usual late night hours, or at least until reruns of either “Seinfeld” or my newly found favorite syndicated show: “My Name is Earl” come on, both of which give me huge belly laughs even when it’s an episode I have seen already several times. Which isn’t that really want you want at the end of the day. Huge and frequent deep belly laughs to cleanse the daily senses? It ain’t gonna happen with Craig Ferguson that’s for sure. Unless something drastic happens. Sorry, Craig.

  108. moomoo partage cette opinion avec nous:

Craig Ferguson is very, very unfunny.

It doesn’t help that his audience horse-laughs at everything he says, but ultimately it’s still his fault. He thinks that his facial expressions and looks into the camera are somehow funny on their own.

When you look at it objectively, his “monologues” - or any time where he’s talking, really - are entirely devoid of content or humor and entirely reliant on silly looks or stupid shit that makes the audience laugh like the idiots they apparently are.

AND, on top of that, he seems incredibly full of himself.

Fuck you, Craig Ferguson! Never met you, but I wish you died.

Obviously, I don’t, but get the fuck off the TV already.

  109. moomoo partage cette opinion avec nous:

    Dear Otis P. Driftwood,

As my last comment attests I fully agree that Craig Ferguson is utter shit, but at the same time, what a disgusting elitist you are, huh? Pretty stupid as far as elitists go, too.

And you think Bill Maher is somehow more talented than the rest? You need better opinions than that before you can look down on others.

    Boo hoo, chubby baby.

    OP’d by Rich

“Jimmy Fallon is much better than Craig”

And your credibility goes out the window!

Craig is a magnificent conversationalist and very little of his show is written or planned. Adding writers from Mad TV or some other crap would make me vomit. You have no real view of what humor is and if you don’t like what he does then change the damn channel.
And as for your criticism of him poking fun of his drug addled past, what is wrong with making fun of yourself a bit here and there?

Craig is by far the funniest talk show host on late night with the exception of whenever Letterman is really grilling someone and asking them real questions that make them uncomfortable. That’s humor right there.

  111. Vic partage cette opinion avec nous:

It’s interesting that Craig has been watched by so many people, including those that hate him. It would be difficult for most people to do such a long monologue. Ferguson obviously says just about anything that comes to his mind. When he frequently states that the show is lousy and puts himself down, it gives him the nerve to be more uninhibited and relaxed. People seem to find it appealing to see naked behavior. I don’t laugh so much when I watch the show, I watch it partly because it helps me to get to sleep. I do look forward to seeing some of his guests, and sometimes Craig misses out on making it a good interview by injecting too much of himself into it. There are times when he does make an interview worthwhile, especially if he has respect for the guest. I get tired of his pretend gay act, and his obsession with genitalia and bodily functions. I give him credit for his lack of inhibition, which I believe is the reason people watch the show. My wife used to like watching him, as she thought him to be intelligent. She doesn’t watch the show anymore, because his “Geoff” endlessly shouts, “IN YOUR PANTS!” She thinks it is so tiresome that she has lost respect for Craig. It was an inspiration to use a skeleton robot for a sidekick, but I think he needs to make its comments more interesting. He obviously likes to use alter ego puppets and such, which is OK, I guess. It is a bit childish. Anyway, I watch his show less now, because of my wife’s feelings. I wish Craig the best, as I would anyone who would undertake such a show. I don’t have any animosity, just curiosity about how a man can carry on so by himself for such a long time. He wouldn’t want my advice, but if he did, I’d tell him to cut the “in your pants” routine, it gets OLD, like telling an old joke over and over again, one that isn’t even funny. Otherwise, just be yourself, Craig…you’ll surely make some people laugh, as well as some who are bored, offended, or just generally hate you.

  112. Stacy partage cette opinion avec nous:

Count me a huge fan of Craig Ferguson. He is, in my estimation, the most refreshingly authentic late night host on TV. He bucks many of the conceits of the other shows and stands on a platform of sincerity and self-deprecation, and I appreciate that.

In response to the poster above me, “what’s up with the tearing up of a list” is that he doesn’t solely rely on pre-written and pre-approved questions like other hosts (see: Conan especially since he moved to TBS), instead choosing a more uninhibited, conversational style. Usually, these are all prepared by producers, writers and advance research teams. It’s the same with his monologue, which is often off-the-cuff or only loosely outlined (as has been mentioned upthread). That takes some serious (as Geoff would say) balls.

He has the ability to seamlessly switch between low and high brow humor, and that’s one of those talents that looks a whole lot easier than it is. Who else can have the raw silliness of a cursing rabbit followed by a semi-obscure Goethe reference? He mixes a more 90s-early 00’s style bathroom humor with an almost vaudevillian pace and old school joke structures. You may just think it’s not funny, I think it’s damn close to genius, and definitely on the right side of consistently entertaining.

There is an objective side to comedy, sure, but certainly we can agree there is a predominant subjective component. Of course, it’s the interwebs, so nothing is for certain and reason is scarce. If you don’t like his style of humor, then awesome, enjoy the Dane Cook album, or whatever else floats your boat. But to question how ANYONE can find him funny is more than a little short-sighted.

He is often a ratings winner, so he must be doing something right. I hope beyond hope that he keeps on doing it. You all have fun being negative, I’ll be busy watching a real American being real funny.

  113. Christine partage cette opinion avec nous:

I find Craig to be really funny. I watch his show every night, or at least record it if I can’t stay up. I’ve been to see it live twice & it was really awesome. I’ve read both his books and watched his comedy shows on Netflix.

I really admire him and the way he treats his guests. The thing is he can sometimes get absorbed in himself and if you hate him then you won’t be able to stand TLLS, but if you like him it makes the show all the better. He seems really authentic and honest and it’d be a great pleasure to meet him in person.
He’s witty and charming, but at the same time vulgar and someone he comes out even more awesome. He’s just and all around bad a & a freaking genius.

If it’s any consolation I think Leno sucks balls, I’ve recently started watching Fallon and his monologues are horrendous and he can be very… well retarded but the games he plays are enjoyable as are his weekly ‘Thank You Notes’. I’ve never given Kimmel the time of day, but I have a lot of respect for Letterman.

  114. Keith partage cette opinion avec nous:

Conan, Craig Ferguson, and Jimmy Kimmel are all brilliant. Get used to them, they will dominate late night for the foreseeable future.

  115. Reed partage cette opinion avec nous:

I really don’t like him at all. I think Conan or Letterman is much better. He’s kind of a snob. Listen to the audience’s laughter, it’s nervous, not genuine. Kind of like a “yeah, I get the joke, look at me I’m laughing!” laughter. Same kind of laughter you hear at a haughty college poetry reading. Not really funny at all. Just a lot of pop culture references. But that’s just me. I can see why folks like him. That’s fine. I just don’t like his humor. I also don’t like the npr show “wait, wait, don’t tell me”. Same kind of nervous, I get the joke, laughter. Peace.

Your right, his who will definitely be canceled any day now…. OH…. WAIT!!!!! you wrote this in what 2005. and its what…. 2011????? yeah…. um not likely. He signed a 6 year contract with CBS when his show first started, and even though its been over six years, he still airs, and has signed another. so I doubt that you’ll get him kicked off the air any time soon my friend

I think hes funny. And for those who don’t laugh at him, honesty, change channels, no need to blog about it.

Theres a time and a place for everything. theres a time to be a grown up, and theres a time to laugh at inappropriate jokes. For me, the time 1 in the morning when no one but me is around the telli.

Mentioning Craig Ferguson in the same sentence, or even webpage, as Kimmel or Letterman ought to be enough to cause a tear in the fabric of the known universe. He makes Flight of the Conchords Season 2 look funny. He is obviously uncomfortable with his status in Hollywood/TV Town, and cannot imagine that he would be well received at parties with his kind of humor, which involves lashin out like a boy while maintaining a sense of “haha its funny isn’t it”. Can this joker.

  120. JamesBonde partage cette opinion avec nous:

Obviously I came here through Google like most commentators of this blogpost. I just have to state a couple of things about this issue, now that I’m here.

First I would like to say that the “Youtube-mafia” surrounding the ‘tvscraigferguson’ channel is really scary. The fanboys/girls of this man is insane. I knew Conan-people were obstinate but this is something entirely new, fans of Ferguson are super defensive, you cannot possibly question something at all about the man without being fiercly attacked, its very sad.

One thing though, I watched Ferguson around the years ~2006-2008, and he was probably the best “late night” person on air, jimmy kimmel was meh… jimmy fallon felt enormously forced, conan was already getting boring and old, leno was the usual company man, and letterman was really disgusting with his sex with young employees. So Craig was without a doubt the best talkshowhost around that time. But things went downwards from ~2008.

The whole concept of “this show sucks” “I suck” “You should watch something else” “I don’t care” etc is really getting awkward. I had a friend in highschool he acted kinda similar, he kept on a everyday facade of unseriousness, and noone took him seriously, didnt mattered what the said or did, and he used it as a defense like “I can never make a fool out of myself dispite what I do, cause noone takes me seriously”. Well he was right, and Ferguson is acting on this principle. Its getting tiring, hearing him half seriously badmouthing himself all the time to escape any pressure of actually being “good”, he cannot handle it, its cringeworthy to watch when he overacts while feeling somekind of manic panic when he makes “a real joke” and he has the urge to tell the audience like “ooooh I made an actual joke!!!”… disgusting.

Probably the biggest thing bothering me is his political correctness! Yes that right, I’ve heard countless people saying that Ferguson isn’t the regular host and that he asks question that noone else would, and that it would make him politicly incorrect, thats just plain wrong. He may ask awkward questions that Letterman or Leno wouldn’t but he’s still the same when it comes to serious issues, again he cannot be serious.

Even when he made his most famous speech about alcoholism(really good by the way) most of the audience laughted while he was explaining that the almost committed suicide, exactly my point really. And the alcohol thing is also really awkward, he usually jokes about it and all, and most “fans” praise him for it, most people who are “hardcore-fans” probably praise him for his solotion to the alcohol problem, but he himself is the last person to want any sympathetic support. So its extremely awkward to see people feeling sorry for him and using that as an excuse to “love” him… he drank a lot, he quit, thats nothing to be proud over.

Also the whole “this show is shit” “we’re not getting payed” “money? ha-ha-ha” “this is a basement la-la-la” is really sick and disgusting stuff. The man is a multi-millionaire. He has millions of dollars at his dispense. He lives in one of the most luxous neighborhoods in Los Angeles, the Hollywood Hills! His books, movies, and the regular show has earned him enormous sums of cash, so its despicable hearing him making fun of HIM and the show being poor.

He also sold of, big time. Not just for his stage persona, he also song out his former country Scotland. At the same time making fun of it, its one of the keys to his sucess. His former accent, his backstory everything. Yet he goes on and on about Europe(”Euro-trashes and eurolitter” and Scotland. The most prominent thing here is that americans really think the “loves” or likes America… He likes one thing, your money. Its the sad truth. He didnt become an american citizen because he liked america of american people, he did it so he could keep getting his high payed job at CBS. So all that shit about “good day for american”, and the cheap-shots like “oooh that means you’re with al-qaida” and so on are really fake and transparent. So yes, he is a sellout.

As I mentioned about his political correctness, its really bad when he tries to talk politics with this huge censorship weight on his shoulders. Like when he tries to talk about Obama, democrats or republicans and trying to appear neutral, thats a joke on its own. This became painfully obviously when terrorist supporters Wolf Blitzer and Ben Stein appeared on the show talking about Israel. Iran was apparently moving some ships in the persian gold, and Craig trying to suck up to Blizer knowing he’s a jewish zionist has to ask “the israelis are not gonna like that huh”, well no shit Craig. He also knows Leslie Moonves the great grandson of the first prime minister of Israel runs CBS, so yea real brave there Craig putting so much on the line! Also Craigs agent is Obamas advisor Rahm Israel Emanuel’s brother Ari Emanuel, yes an Israeli… so everyone stop trying to push some false statement about Craig being brave and trying to act neutral in political arguments, thats a joke.

I’m sorry that I’m rambling, but this needs to be said. The homosexuality thing is really bad. I don’t care one bit about gay people they can do whatever they want, but the way Craig acts is just too much. Once or twice it might be funny, but the gay charade several times every episode is tiring. It was also kinda weird watching Craig interacting with a real homosexual person, I dont remember the name but Craig tried to do some of his gay persona in this interview and the guest(who was gay) answared something really revealing about his sex life or whatever, and Craig was disgusted, it was mighty weird seeing the man acting all gay all day now being disgusted when he hears it from the main source…

One last thing, the new style of the program is such a dull installment. The old regular show 2006-08 was funny because it was a normal late night with some funny sketches, otherwise the regular monologue, emails, guests. Now it feels so forces, overdone, with Geoff the robot taking up enormous space and time on the show, especially since he went A.I(really bad move) and the sacritariat, touching glittery balls, mouth organs(he basiclly doesnt even play it with the guests)… Naa this show is heading downwards, I had high hopes for Craig, but it seems as he will go on a couple of years degenerating his show even further, or uppgrading to Lettermans Late Show, if he does he will be another boring talkshowhost without any uniqueness, and if he stays, well lets face it he will only stay a couple of years more to be FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT for the rest of his life.

    Thats it my 100 cents.

  121. anonymous partage cette opinion avec nous:

Craig is seriously the funniest man on Television. I don’t know what you’re talking about.

  122. dratto partage cette opinion avec nous:

First: I think that Craig Ferguson is the best Late Night host on air. His show is innovative, fresh and completely different than all the other shows. He is witty, he is damn quick (I’v seldom seen someone who is THIS quick) and he has a very intimate and special way with his guests.
Some points that people brought forward here against Craig are really ridiculous. Of course taste is a highly subjective thing and everyone has a different one. But there are also a few things which cannot be denied and which can be stated quite objectively.
Someone here said, that Craig’s a poor interviewer. I mean, wtf. Compare a Letterman-interview with some sort of celebrity with a Ferguson-interview with the same person. You will see a huge difference. Craig just TALKS to people. It’s just two people having a humorous conversation, which evolves naturally, wanders from one point to the other. Letterman for example just asks the same boring questions over and over again. It’s no conversation, it’s a stereotypical interview-situation. But of course, the main difference you’ll see is, that practically all guests of Craig’s show really enjoy the conversation, there’s a very natural chemistry going on. Watch his interviews with Ewan McGregor or with Kristen Bell. Also, I’ve never seen a show in which the guests laugh their asses off so much, thanks to Ferguson’s quick wit. Like Regis Philbin said: this guy has the quickest mind in the business. The guests can bring up any topic, he has the ability to make something funny with it.
The special thing about Craig is, for me, that he is authentic and that practically everything in this show is improvised. Concerning the authenticity: did you ever see a Late Night show in which the host made a eulogy for his father? A real good and moving one, genuinely emotional and sad, but at the same time maintaining some humor? He told many stories of his father in this show in a very decent manner, some humorous, some serious and it was one of the finest moments on television for me. Because there was no show about it, there was no overly pathetic presentation, just one man sharing his emotions, paying homage to his father. At other times he would speak in the same genuine way of his addictions, of the day, when he wanted to commit suicide and other things like that. But, again, not in an embarrassing manner, not in an attention-whore-style, always retaining some kind of humor and irony. That’s why so many guests like him, that’s why he’s special and completely different than all the other guys making Late Night tv.
And concerning the improvisation-part: like someone here has pointed out: this takes balls. You need balls if you go out on stage without a script and do your thing and be funny all the time.
I think most of these haters here just watched the first few minutes and decided that the show is lame and that’s it for them. That’s their definition of taste. For me, taste is something more elaborate. Taste is an activity. Therefore judgements on taste that don’t go beyond ‘lame’ aren’t to be taken seriously.

P.S.: I’m not a native speaker, so I’m sorry for all the mistakes I assuredly made.

  123. David partage cette opinion avec nous:

It appears to me you ARE Craig Ferguson of about 20 years ago,a so so musician/performe/hack, unfocussed, overweight, not conspicuously talented. Just hope you grow to the same outer limits he has done.

You’re French Canadian? S’funny you look like the worst type of moishy-faced fat Minnesotan Scandinavian heritaged blimp fucker.

Be careful, after Craig’s fake Mandrax hate mail the Feds will be checking out the Internet for sites that say: ‘I hate Craig Ferguson’. Good luck with that, But honestly this whole site is just celeb somebody envy, what a bloated little egotist you are! This bloated blog, I mean who gives a fuck? Only found you when I Googled darling Craig to find out more!

  124. Pam partage cette opinion avec nous:

I have watched Craig for about six years, DVR show and watch nearly every show, but since Geoff and the in your pants schtick have really, really gotten tired of all the genetalia references. Not funny, FergieCraig. The touch my glittery ball and recent awkward pause/looking at genetalia is downright offensive. Often I fast forward through the monologue and go to tweets because I don’t want to hear all the crude humor.
Now, the good news is that I think NO ONE is funnier, quicker on their feet, or perhaps smarter than Craig. He can shift gears and talk intelligently to anyone. I find him impressive intellectually and wish, wish, wish he would drop the vulgar lounge entertainer routine. How’s he ever going to graduate to Letterman with the kind of language he insists on interjecting?

  125. Freeman partage cette opinion avec nous:

I was the biggest Craig Ferguson fan but honestly he went south when he got the robot, he went from delivering heartfelt commentary (see Britney Spears or His dad dying) to playing off a fake robot and every joke being about how much he doesn’t care, or how much his show sucks or how much CBS sucks. Dude, we get it, Letterman should have retired long ago and given the prime slot to you but since then you have killed any likeable quality you ever had. Pack it in. You can’t rebound from all the negativity. If you had a brain you’d get what ratings you can from taking a bat to that perverted robot alter-ego and then sign off with a “well I guess that’s it then…”

    The show is dead.

When Carson called it quits people were sad, not relieved.
